The Bouncing Ball, thoughts on sports by Paul West, vol 4: the “touchception” edition

I’m gonna keep this one brief, too, and as you might guess, it’s about the “touchception” in monday’s Packers-Seahawks game. Word has it that a Las Vegas casino is giving people their money back over that call…to which my reaction is, WOW.

They didn’t do this ish for the “tuck rule game“, where a game-ending fumble was overturned. Or the game where Calvin Johnson aka Megatron put the ball on the ground and had his touchdown overturned for ‘not controlling it to the ground’, a rule wrinkle the regular refs employ to overturn legitimate-looking TDs WAY too often. Then there’s the infamous Ed Hochuli call. I’m just saying–I’m as outraged as a lot of people over that call, and the situation with the officiating lockout, but this talk of asterisks and overturning games opens a serious can of worms. Vegas giving people their money back is exactly in that direction…then again, it’s also a serious “fix this ish!” statement to the NFL, which I don’t mind.

Because, seriously, the NFL needs to fix this ish.
