The Bouncing Ball: Thoughts on Sports by Paul West, vol 2

Happy friday! Welcome to the second installment of The Bouncing Ball. Please remember: these are the musings of a sports blogger, and NOT to be taken as expert advice. Without further ado:

–The NFL sending letters to ANYONE cautioning them to ‘respect the game’ is hilarious. Or it would be hilarious if it wasn’t so ridiculous. They do NOT care about anything except keeping the execs paid.

–As an aside, the last thing I did before shutting down my laptop at 7:40pm yesterday was saying ‘eh, let’s give em a shot’ and starting the NY Giants’ defense in fantasy football. Whew.

–The Pittsburgh Pirates’ psychotic training methods reminds me that, for all my consternation at the Mets’ management at times, I could be a Pirates fan.

–“Too close to take” still aggravates me. It doesn’t matter if it’s strike one, two or three; it’s a STRIKE or it’s NOT. Call the same strike zone, regardless of the count, or at least try to. C’mon.

–Chris Johnson needs to stop yapping about his O-line. The fact is, he gets hit behind the line a LOT, and that’s because their line is playing like trash. But still, man…that’s not gonna get them to play better. Moreover, the type of moves he exhibited last year should get him a breakaway once in a while.

–Tim Tebow needs to get off the magazine covers and get his butt some throwing reps. Maybe watch some video. Like, around the clock for a week or two.

–You know what’s scary for a pitcher? This.

–Stay tuned for a possible rant by yours truly on how it’s perfectly ludicrous, and borderline impossible, to try to legislate the kneel-down out of football.

That’s all for today. Thanks for reading!
