The Bouncing Ball, by Paul West: Quadruple-Header Edition

Hi all! It’s 10/11/12, a fabulous day to watch some postseason baseball. How about back to back quadruple headers? My Bouncing Ball of sports-related musings:

–The Reds play well at home, are always good for a comeback in their own park (especially during the day, it seems),  and they’ve had Matt Cain’s number all year. This game looked like a lockdown duel between aces, and as I type this, the tying run comes to the plate in a 6-3 game. Stay tuned.

–You know who was pretty happy to get the win last night? Oakland’s third base coach, Mike Gallego. What the frak was he thinking?!?

–You gotta respect A-Rod’s reaction to the whole Ibanez situation. He handled it with grace and humility, and admitted that that would not always have been the case. Good for him.

–I think Yanks-O’s is going five. They’ve played to almost a stone-cold tie all season, and it just seems headed that way again. Who wins? I dunno.

–Bruce Bochy is, to me, the NL Manager of the Year. There are reasons to give it to Dusty Baker and Davey Johnson, for sure, but Bochy dealt with key injuries, a lot of new key personnel, and the sudden and controversial departure of Mekly Cabrera with the Dodgers closing hard.

–Win or lose, Brandon Phillips might be the NLDS MVP…

Enjoy the games!
