Marc Stein of ESPN says Jason Kidd will sign with the Knicks after it looked as if he was coming back to Dallas. Kidd was quoted as saying he wanted to play on a team that has a chance to win, and is fine with mentoring Jeremy Lin.
Meanwhile Lin has signed an offer sheet from the Houston Rockets, but the Knicks will likely match.
Remember the offer the Raptors made to Knick great Landry Fields? Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors who spent an hour chatting with fans on his site thinks that
“If the Raptors knew they weren’t getting Nash, they wouldn’t have agreed to that offer sheet with Fields. But it’s not the worst deal in the world. It’ll be about $6.3MM/year for Fields. That’s an overpay, but if he has a bounceback season after a poor 2011/12, it’s not something that’s gonna hurt you that much.”
As someone who watched Landry Fields regress all last season, every time Landry got his hands on the ball last season, I said “oh,no!”, but maybe that’s just me.
For the Knicks, O.J. Mayo and Randy Foye are still available, but they will probably have to come in a sign-and-trade deal, if at all. Marcus Camby would be solid on this team, but he does say that he wants to start, and that ain’t happenin’ with Amare and Tyson starting for the Knicks.
