Raptors Block Knicks From Nash

Marc Stein of ESPN reports that The Raptors have signed Knick Swingman Landry Fields to a 3-year offer sheet. It looks like a backloaded deal that the Knicks wouldn’t want to match.
So the Raptors just put a block move on the Knicks trying to work a sign and trade with Phoenix to get Steve Nash, because Fields was one of the few pieces the Knicks had to play with, according to Chad Ford.
Brilliant move by the Raptors. And the Knicks could counter move with this possible move?
UGH! Sounds like another typical Dolan move. Who does he think he is? Dan Snyder?
Schumpert is a future superstar. Under no conditions would I deal him, and if the Knicks do get Nash, they will lose Lin to the Raptors as well, so waive bye bye to Schumpert and Lin for another aging superstar.
UPDATE: Knicks are taking a beating now. Jeremy Lin is being heavily recruited by the Rockets and Deron Williams just agreed to come back to the Nets. The Nets are making deals left and right and the Knicks have done nothing. Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld tweets, “It’s Omer Asik all over again. If Rockets get Lin, they’d pay him $8 mil per year. If Knicks match, they pay $5 mil, $5.2 mil and $13.8 mil.”
Ian O’Connor of ESPN Radio put in a couple of good points by saying that the Fields move is a good one ONLY if it works. If it doesn’t, they’re stuck with Fields at $20 million. He also suggests that in a similar situation to that of the Magic and Howard, the Denver Nuggets did not want to trade Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks to spite him, but did so in the end.
Makes sense. The Magic will just have to take the best offer.
