This is getting kind of old, isn’t it? The Los Angeles Lakers, who recently signed Steve Nash, have reportedly landed Dwight Howard in a four way deal.
The deal will send Andre Iguodala from the 76ers to Denver, the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, the Magic will receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless and one protected future first-round pick from Denver, LA, and Philadelphia, and the Lakers get Howard.
For the Magic, this is a good deal, allowing them to get a slew of draft picks and salary cap relief. Just what they wanted.
For Philadelphia, they get the soon-to-be free agent Bynum, probably the second best center in the league, and although they are gambling, they do feel that Bynum will resign with them at the end of the season.
For the Nuggets, getting Igoudala is a dream come true. Another good player for an up and coming team.
And for the Lakers, they didn’t even have to give up Gasol. What a crock. Once again, they get their man. Like with Bynum in Philadelphia, the Lakers have no assurances that Howard will resign next season, but they believe that once Howard touches down in L.A., he’ll fall in love with the city and the team. I agree. Jack Nicholson has this devilish way about him and can be very persuasive.
So just like I wrote in my article, “Ichiro To Yankees, And Life Is Not Fair”, the rich get richer, again.
It’s always exciting when big-name players move to new teams. You never know how they’ll fit in, and how things will work out, and it’s a fantasy team-like thrill to see them in new uniforms, but why do I get this feeling that we’ll be seeing a Heat-Lakers championship, before the season even begins. It’s a bit of a spoiler, isn’t it?
Sigh, life isn’t fair, again. Well, maybe we’ll get a good t-shirt idea out of this. 🙂
